Swing Swing

Topshop Dress & lipstick, Primark Boots

Back to my usual head to toe in black kind of outfits. This dress has been a wardrobe staple of mine for the past few months. It's so easy to wear whatever the weather. Just throw on with a pair of chunky boots and you're good to go. My kind of outfit. Today is bank holiday monday which will mean lots of chilling and doing a whole lot of nothing.

What are you up to this bank holiday?

Suede & Stripes

Primark Top and shoes
New Look Skirt

Like loads of other people at the moment, I'm really into suede/faux suede. I added this skirt to my collection and love the way it looks with a simple striped top. I mean who doesn't love a good stripe? Suede is definitely a nod to the 70s trend which seems to be working it's way into our winter wardrobes too so I'll be whacking this bad boy out in the colder months, pairing it with cosy tights and a turtle neck.

60s vibes

Primark top, skirt and shoes

I always feel really 60s-esque in this skirt so naturally, I paired it with a turtle neck to add to the vibe. I've thrown in a pop of colour with the orange lipstick which I'm loving at the moment, definitely adds a hint of summeryness (defo a word). I will be upping the tights to the super cosy ones in winter to make this outfit an all year rounder.

Bristol's International Balloon Fiesta

So on Saturday I headed to Ashton Court for Bristol's annual international balloon fiesta. It was scorching hot and the grounds were crammed with people from all over the country all there to see the ascension of the balloons into the start of a lovely sunset. There was plenty to do whilst you waited for the it to begin but it was nice to just on the grass, soaking up the sun and waiting. It was nice to sit and watch the sky fill with balloons and I will definitely be making this a yearly trip.

Day Trip Photo Diary: York

So I took another trip over the border into good ol' Yorkshire and visited where else but York. It's a big city, with a whole tonne of historic importance. We had a snoop around some old book shops and all of the tacky souvenir shops of course. The fringe festival was on so we had a bite to eat from their selection of street food, there was a variety from pizza to burritos. After walking down lots of narrow alleys, some of which inspired Harry Potter's diagon alley, we stopped off to grab some freshly handmade lemonade. Just at this point it started to pee down with rain but luckily, I had my new orange fisherman's jacket which is clearly the best thing ever.

Coping with Results Day: Feelings and Options

A vast amount of students will be receiving their GCSE and A-Level results on Thursday. If you're one of those people, you're probably feeling anxious and fretting over what your grades are going to be. Have I done well enough? Have I met my targets or predicted grades? Will I be able to continue to my first choice of college or university? You're all feeling the same emotions and this is totally normal. There are a few different outcomes of how tomorrow could go for you. I thought I'd run you through what your options are for each outcome and try and put your mind at rest and feel a lot less nervous for the day.

Source
Scenario 1: You exceed your targets/expectations This  is what we're all hoping for, whether outwardly or just thinking it to yourself, we'd all love to get a few grades higher than our target. If you've put in the hard work this could well be you. If it is, chances are you will be able to easily take your next step. This might mean, you'll be accepted to your desired college or apprenticeship. If you're off to uni, it might mean you've easily got your place at your top choices of uni. If this is you, you may also consider going through clearing/contacting universities to get a place at a university with higher entry requirements. You should talk to your tutor about this on the day.
Scenario 2: You meet your target On Thursday, you might get what you were predicted or targeted to get, in which case you've done everything you need to do. You've most likely chosen appropriate options for your next step that are suited to your grades and will everything will go smoothly.

Scenario 3: You don't reach your targets, but you still pass This can be a bit of an annoying situation to be in because you're annoyed that you didn't do as well as you wanted but you feel like you should be happy with the fact that you passed. It's okay to be disappointed but there are still options. If you're at GCSE level, your passing grade will probably be enough to get you into college/an apprenticeship as they mainly look for passes in core subjects. If you're at A Level and you're not happy with your result because it means you have to settle for a uni you don't want to go to or if you're at AS Level and you're worried it wont be enough to get your overall A-Level grade you want, consider retaking the exam next summer. You will know what you have to do to do better but you also know that no matter what happens in the retake, you will always have a passing grade to fall back on so don't worry!!
Scenario 4: You completely fail. Now this is what we are all worried about. If this happens to you, remember don't worry, there are options! As I said in the last scenario, you can retake the exam next  year. This option is usually offered for both GCSE and A-Level and provides you with a chance to try again. Remember we can't always get it right first time. I once retook an exam about 6 times so don't worry! An alternative option is to reconsider what it is that you want to do. Perhaps exams and the academic route aren't for you and if that's the case, that's ok, we're all good at different things. If you're feeling like this, you should probably talk to your tutor or if you're lucky enough to have a career advisor, talk to them. They will point you in the right direction.

I think the key is not to worry. If you pass or exceed your targets, that's great and you shall be well on your way to the next step in your future. If you didn't pass, it's not the end of the world and you will be able to make things right whether that's through retaking or changing your course of action. It will all be ok! So, give this another read on Thursday night and get a good night's sleep. All will be okay and I wish you all the best of luck!

Boats & Hoes

Topshop Top
H&M Skirt
Doc Marten Shoes
Charity Shop Bag

I took these when I was in Hebden Bridge the other day. It's weird being in the north again as the weather is weird. It's not hot enough to go bare armed but it's a bit too warm to wear a coat. These topshop jumpers are perfect for this weather. Today I paired it with my cute H&M skirt which I love to pieces. I also recently watched Step Brothers so whenever I see a boat, boats and hoes plays in my head.

3 Simple Ways to Instantly Improve The Look of Your Blog

Hey guys! As you very well know, I don't usually do posts like this as I'm not exactly in the position to be giving blog advice. However, I have recently learned some new tips that instantly improved the way my blog looks and I wish someone had told me earlier.

1. Have a theme. If you're like me and you have chosen to simply edit bloggers simple themes to create your blog's look, then it's easy to just pick loads of different colours and fonts because it's hard to just choose one, right? Try and have uniformity and stick with the same fonts, colour scheme and styles. This will make your blog look neater and more appealing.
2. Get rid of the blogger navigation bar. I didn't even notice this until last week but those who use blogger will have a blogger bar at the top of their page which allows you to search for other blogs and has the blogger logo etc. This makes your blog look less like a website and might make people not take your blog seriously. I might be the last person to realise that there is an option to turn it off. Simply go on layout, click on nav bar and select 'turn off'.
3. Change your favicon. Y'know when you open a tab and there's a little logo next to the page title on the tab? Well I've spent the last 3 years or so with the annoying orange blogger symbol and I've seen a lot of blogs with it too. Little did I know you can easily change this. Simply conjure up a square image that you want to appear, head to the layout page, click on favicon and upload your own! Note: If this doesn't work immediately, follow this tutorial here to help you get it up and working!

Do you have any tips for how to keep your blog looking smart?

Day Trip Photo Diary: Hebden Bridge

The other day I ventured out to Yorkshire to Hebden Bridge - a cute little town with a ton of vintage shops and beautiful scenery. We wondered around the shops where I bought some second hand Doc Martens and a beautiful orange fisherman's coat which my family cannot stop laughing at but I think it's fab. We then went for some lunch in one of the many cute cafés, you wont be stuck for something to eat. Unfortunately we missed the vintage weekend which was the day after. Damn.

If there is one thing that I have learnt since blogging it's that you can never go wrong with stripes. I've found myself lusting after everything stripey as late, from tops and dresses to skirts and trousers.  I'm even wearing a striped top as I'm writing this blog post. So here's a compilation of some sweet sweet stripes that I've pulled from pinterest. Enjoy and get some more stripes in your life.
