hello 2015

Tomorrow is 2015 and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Lets take a moment to think about the stuff I've done this year.

  • London for my Birthday
  • Went to Ikea for the first time
  • Turned 18
  • My constant revision finally paid off and I got an A* in history
  • Watched 10 seasons of Greys Anatomy
  • Moved to Bristol to go to Uni
  • Got a job
  • Got a record player (I feel this is an accomplishment)
Looking at it, you might think 'big deal' but these 8 things well and truly made my year. I feel like everyone enters the new year thinking that the previous year was crappy but 2014 has been a relatively good year for my and I'm hoping 2015 will be just as good.

Now then, you'll be glad to know there's going to be none of this 'new year, new me' nonsense or even making any new years resolutions because let's face it, we're not going to stick it now are we? However I do tend to start the new year by aiming to put 100% into everything that I do because by the time December comes, I get a bit lazy. I will also try to get into a blogging routine but I'm not promising anything.

I hope you have all had a fabulous 2014 and that 2015 is just as or even greater.

Sale Picks

loafers (out of stock :( ) // blue leather skirt // velvet & lace shorts // striped tee

As you're reading this, I will be shopping in all of the sales (as long as there wasn't too much snow last night). I thought I'd prepare and peruse the sales online so I could keep an eye out for the best bits. Here are a few (lots) of things I want.

Merry Christmas!

YAY Christmas! One of my favourite times of year! I'm back up north with the fam and I'm ready to stuff my face with all of the foods ever - cue the sausage rolls and pigs in blankets. I love Christmas because I like giving as well as receiving presents and just having an excuse to lounge around and do nothing. I hope you all have a fab day and get gifts that you wanted!

Slouchy Jumper & Ripped Knees

Jumper - Urban Outfitters
Jeans - Primark
Shoes - Dr Martens

This is my usual sort of outfit that I've been wearing since at uni - totally uninspiring right? I've been going for comfort and living in jeans. I know right. I am going to start making more of an effort. Can we appreciate these jeans please? They fit like a charm and are so comfy. They are pretty good quality to say they're from Primark and were only £13 but I am waiting for them to fall apart/baggy knees.

Festive Features

As soon as it was December I whacked up my decorations that I'd bought from home, including the cutest 1950s decorations from my Nan. However I managed to smash the prettiest one on the train journey. But how adorable is the santa? Can we also take a moment to appreciate the red and white bauble - 34p from Sainsbury's ladies and gentlemen.

Life Update: Excuses, Excuses

Long time no blog. I have many excuses for my lack of blogging, one being that I have stupidly lost/misplaced/buried (underneath my crap) my SD card so I have had to wait for my sister to send me one because I don't want to pay for another one (student problems). I have also had loads of essays to do (I say loads, I've had 2) and now is the only time where I have been able to relax a little bit. I've just had an 11 hour sleep and had waffles and biscuits for breakfast so it's safe to say I am loving life as a student. Now that I have an SD card I will be able to blog. I am hoping to do some make up reviews and (if I ever tidy my room) I will try and do some outfit posts - but don't hold me to it. My outfits have been very uninspiring as of late and leggings make frequent appearance which goes against everything I believe in but they are so comfy for 10am-6pm uni days. Make sure you follow me on instagram (amyleehaynes) because I post much more regularly on there or follow me on Twitter (@amyleehaynes) for witty life updates.

Layering

Turtle Neck - Primark
Playsuit - H&M
Boots - Primark
Lipstick - Topshop Beguiled

I bought this playsuit not long before I went to uni so I haven't had time to feature it yet but it's that time of year where layering is the best thing we can do and I appear to have a lot of turtle necks. It means I can wear my playsuit for a little bit longer yet without freezing my ass off. Also, how awesome are these boots? They are a rip off of the JC Coltrane boots everyone and their mothers had the other year and primark have finally bought out their version at only £18. Primark are doing pretty good with their shoes lately. All hail primark.

Dressed In Black

Matalan Jumper
H&M Skirt
Matalan Earrings
Dr Marten Shoes

Autumn is upon us, despite BBC weather telling me it's still 17C, so turtle necks are the way to go. I bought this one from Matalan for £2.50 during the Summer. Planning ahead at its best. What better way to style it than with my trusty leather skirt, which is in fact way too big for me now, DMs and a red lip. I have so many other ways that I want to style this jumper so be prepared to see it a lot. and I mean a lot.

Autumn Ready: Zara, Primark & Boots Haul

Turtle Neck Jumper - £19.99 - Zara (so in love)

Checked Shirt - £8 - Primark Men's

Lilac and Burgundy beanies - £1 - both Primark

Umbrella - £4 // Clear LED lights £1.50 // Earrings - £1 // False Nails - £1 - all Primark

Maybelline Master Graphic Felt Tip Eyeliner £5.99 // Maybelline Colour Show Nail Varnish in Burgundy Kisses // Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown (I love this so much) - all from Boots

Since being at uni I have been really good and haven't bought any new clothes or anything exciting (gasp) until now of course. I am glad I waited as I can now buy thick jumpers and knitwear and actually wear them without being too hot. I'm not going to ramble on about each item because I can't even justify any of my purchases. A lot of them were accidental. If you've seen The Holiday, it was a lot like when Camero Diaz is drunk shopping, picks something up and drunkenly drops it into her basket without knowing what it is. (Best film ever). I will at some point review the beauty products and of course I will feature the clothes in a lot of outfit posts.

Have you bought anything recently?

Autumn

Jumper - Edinburgh Woolen Mill Men's Via Charity Shop
Jeans - H&M
Shoes - Dr Martens
Scarf - Matalan Men's
Hat - Primark

I feel like I haven't posted an outfit post in ages and that's probably because I haven't and I haven't been sure how they will turn out. However I actually like these pictures! Probably more so than when I had more room at home. I think the lighting is better in this room which makes my life a whole lot easier!

Now then, since I've been in Bristol I have gone on (and on) about how warm it is here and I even had bare legs last week *gasp* but, since this is Britain after all, it peed it down today so many many layers were needed. I threw on my favourite Edinburgh Woolen Mill jumper that I found in a charity shop and put it on with my new H&M £7.99 jeans and of course a hat and scarf. I was still cold. What is winter going to be like?! I feel this is going to be a typical uni outfit for me as it's super comfy and just easy.

Life Update: World's Worst Blogger Award Goes To...

Hi guys. Remember me? I know I haven't been away for that long and I did schedule a whole 2 posts in my absence but I thought I would just let y'all know what's occurring. Basically I am really busy like all of the time now. Story of my life, right? I have a job now though so I have to do actual work as well as my uni work which means that all of my precious time that I have where I am not doing anything I will be doing 1 of 2 things: eating whole packets of 20p custard creams (ta sainsburys) whilst watching Grey's Anatomy or sleeping. However I am going to try reeeaally hard to get into a blogging routine as I have a few post ideas but I can't make any promises.

I feel like I am doing this quite a lot nowadays but apologies if I am MIA for a while. I will be back. (eventually).

ps I will regularly(ish) be updating twitter and instagram so go follow me @amyleehaynes.

Sell Your Phone With Envirofone

We all have an old phone lying around the house that just sits there. We never really know what to do with them either do we? We're not supposed to just shove them in the wheely bin so we just leave them sat in a draw, turn them on from time to time to laugh at the pictures we took when we were 13. That might be just me.

That's when I checked how much my phone (Sony Ericsson Xperia X8) was worth on Envirofone and realised that I would get £11 for it. That's not a lot but at the end of the day, it's an extra £10 that I didn't have before. All you do is make an account, click sell and you will get a parcel pack to send it off in. They will check that it turns on - but you can sell it even if it's broken - and they will e-mail you to tell you when your cheque will be posted. There are other payment options available but cheque seemed like the safest option. The whole process took just under 3 weeks, which isn't long really and that was mainly due to me forgetting to go to the post office to post the parcel.

I totally recommend Envirofone as a quick and easy way to sell your phone as they do seem fairly reliable. It is particularly good if the phone you want to sell is a good phone as you can get a lot more than £10. Who knows you might be sitting on a gold mine. Or if it's really old you may get a whopping 59p for it - don't spend it all at once. The only downside is that there is a chance your phone is worth nothing but if this is the case, you can still send it to them and they will recycle it for you totally free of charge. Even though you wont get paid, it's still worth it to declutter.

Will you be selling your old phone?

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint - Rose Hip

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint - £3.99

It seems that everyone has ranted and raved about gelly nail polishes recently so I thought that it's about time that I try them out and see what all of the fuss is about. Naturally I headed straight to Barry M who always offer the best colours and I have been impressed with their collections in the past. I wanted a white polish because it looks nice on everyone else but I think I will probably look like I'm wearing tipex especially since I am terrible at painting my nails.Instead I chose rose hip which is a really light pink shade.

To me it isn't that much more shiny than Barry M's normal nail paint and I don't find it to be very gelly. It does last longer without chipping, perhaps just under a week but I was expecting it to last way longer. I think it would look a lot better over false nails. Saying this I still really like the colour and I like that it doesn't chip after a day because it means longer before having to reapply. I will still use it but I just wish it was a bit shinier.

Have you tried the gelly hi shine polishes? What do you think?
