What I Wore Today by Gemma Correll

For Christmas my sister bought me this amazing book by Gemma Correll. It's a place where you can doodle all of your favourite outfits and dream outfits along with spaces to write playlists, design accessories and draw your style icons. It's a great way to keep you creative especially when you feel that you're life revolves around doing work and sleeping - it's a nice break. It also includes a few illustrations by other bloggers showing their favourite outfits.
If you're like me and are not the best at drawing, don't worry because for each outfit you draw there is  a template to ensure that you get your proportions right and you can simply draw the clothes on.

So far I have only drawn one outfit  but I will make sure that I do many more. As you can see the one above was pretty much what I wore for NYE (see this post here). I had no idea how you're supposed to draw tartan so I just tried my best.

I think my sister bought this from River Island and I'm sure they will still have it. Does anybody else have this book? What do you think?

20 Facts About Me!

Helloo! I have seen quite a few bloggers doing posts like this and I thought it would be a really good idea instead of constantly doing outfit posts etc. so here it goes:

1. I currently live in Lancashire (North West of England) but I used to live near Birmingham.

2. I'm quite a shy and quiet person. I don't like talking to new people but when I do I go bright red and say the wrong thing. It's best just to avoid talking to new people.

3. I have a fear of dying. I know it's one of the weirdest fears ever but if I just sit there and think about it, it scares me so much. It's just the fact that one day something will happen which will mean that I will no longer think, speak or do all the things I enjoy doing, I will just become nothing and I think it's the nothingness that scares me the most.

4. I am incredibly lazy. I don't like exercise (apart from chasing my cat around). I know that I probably should do more but I don't. I go for walks when the whether is nicer but that's it.

5. I am a history geek. I know a lot of people are a bit 'iffy' about history because they think that it's in the past, why does it matter but I just find it interesting. My favourite historical period is probably modern history.

6. My full name is Amy-Lee Haynes. My Dad wanted to call me Jamie-Lee after Jamie-Lee Curtis but I don't think my Mom liked that so I was called Amy-Lee.

7. I take ages to read books. I started reading Trainspotting in February 2012 and it took me until August to finish it (I know). I then started reading The Hobbit straight away and I've still not finished it and I'm not sure if I will. I have no motivation.

8. I watch a lot of TV programmes, well I record them and then watch them over the course of the week. I watch: Girls, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore (but it has finished!! :( ), Fresh Meat (also finished), Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Skins, True Blood, Misfits, The Great British Bake Off, 30 Rock (sometimes) and I've probably missed loads off.

9. I'm about 5 ft. 3 which I always thought was an average height but in comparison to my friends, I'm quite short.

10. I am a worrier. I worry about everything and anything. When I go out with my friends I worry that they wont get on the bus or show up or that I will catch the wrong bus or miss the bus etc. It annoys me how much worry.

11. I haven't had my hair cut in over a year. I know it's gross but I have spent so long growing it, I don't want to chop it off. Plus I have had many dodgy hairstyles/colours etc. so I worry that they will do it wrong (more worrying)

12. I'm a cheapskate. I don't have a job or an income so I have to save my money to go out shopping so I hate just wasting loads on one thing - hence why I still don't have the American Apparel Disco Pants.

13. My favourite film is Moulin Rouge. I don't know why but it is just perfect in every way.

14. I'm a bit weird with my music taste because I refuse to download music illegally or buy it off itunes because I know if I link my itunes account my bank account, I wont have any money left. This means that I just listen to whatever I have access to. I sometimes buy CDs but rarely ever so I just listen to a lot of music that my Mom and Dad like such as Wham!, the Clash and the Jam.

15. I really like onion rings, preferably ones in batter.

16. In the summer holidays (I think) I drank stupid amounts of tea pretty much having one after the other. I have managed to control it though and I now only have 2 a day.

17. I don't know what I want to do as a career. It would be my dream to work in a Natural History Museum. It would  also be my dream to own a clothes shop but I haven't done all the right subjects to do that.

18. I study history, psychology, religious studies and maths at sixth form

19. Sometimes I just like to sit and make up stories and daydream about things - hence the blog title.

20. Some of my favourite people are: Ewan McGregor, Trevor Macdonald, Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Snooki (don't judge me), Kate Nash. There are probably more but I cannot think!

Sorry I'm not very interesting! I also hope you like my layout, header and button! xx

Week in photos #17

watching skins season 4 // first snow of the week // more snow // enjoying a brew after writing my 6 page essay // Les Mis. ticket (review here) // waiting at the bus stop //walk in the snow // writing a perfume review post - coming soon // gave in and bought the Elle magazine

As you may have seen on twitter at about this time last week, I made a commitment that I will put 100% effort in with everything I do because recently I have been trying to get away with the doing the bare minimum. I can safely say that so far it's gone quite well. I have done work for sixth form everyday this week apart from yesterday when I was writing some posts for over the next few weeks.

However that also meant that I'm busy doing work all the time so I haven't gotten round to tidy my room, hence the lack of outfit posts. I will try and get round to doing some this week though so stay tuned!

Snow Day

(someone skiing in the field)

This morning (yes morning) me and my mom decided to go on a little walk in the snow so we decided to take a few pictures. I tired to take pictures of the snow falling from the trees but it was too quick. I plan on staying in the house for the rest of the weekend because it's too cold. Hope you're all either enjoying the snow or enjoying staying inside.

Dixi Preview

I have recently been sent these Dixi previews of the new collection  January especially to show to all you lovely people. I'm sure you're all familiar with Dixi and their beautiful collection of fashion and jewellery that is a bit different than the stuff you find in regular high street stores. These pieces from the new collection are a great way to update your style for this S/S.

The new collection will be available for you to purchase at around 10am on Sunday 27th January. To top it off Dixi have been kind enough to let me offer free shipping on orders £15 and over from Sunday 27th January until Sunday 3rd February with the discount code: BLOGGERDISC

I love all of these items but particularly the maxi skirts and the pink stone ring (bottom left). What items are your favourites?

Film Review: Lés Miserablés

Tonight I have been to see Lés Miserablés and, as I'm sure you're all aware, it has been nominated for 8 awards and won 7 which it completely deserves. I thought that I would share my views of the film to tell you exactly why I enjoyed it so much.

The film is about Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman aka Wolverine from X-Men), a released prisoner, who is chased for years by Javert (Russell Crowe aka Gladiator) because he broke his life long parole. Jean also takes young Cosette (Isabella Allen) into his care which the first section of the film revolves around where as the second section is based 9 years later. Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) falls in love with Marius (Eddie Redmayne), a young revolutionary - who is also incredibly gorgeous as are many of the revolutionaries. Throughout the film the characters battle true love (aw), fleeing from danger and fighting the revolution whilst singing every line. It is spectacular.

I think the main part of the film that I liked, as weird as it may sound, are the colours as most things are made up of red, white and blue, the colours of the French flag. I also think this is to represent the ideas of the groups having red for the revolutionaries (more left wing) and blue for the opposition (more right wing) but that's just one of my thoughts. I couldn't find any pictures that were wonderful at showing the colours but these two are decent enough:

The only pictures I could find that show the colours L-R: (source) (source)
A lot of credit has to go to Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen, who play Madame Thénardier and Thénardier. I think without these characters the film would be far too serious and they add a well needed giggle to break up the sadness.

Overall I thought it was a fantastic film and I definitely recommend that you go and see it but only if you like musicals because they literally sing every line.

Leather & Chunky Knits

Jumper and shirt - charity shop, skirt - Rokit, Socks - Topshop, shoes - doc martens, lipstick- MUA shade 1

This is just an outfit I've been wearing a lot to sixth form recently. I love this jumper mainly because I got it for £3.50 from a charity shop in Warwick which is around 10% of the price it's originally sold at in Edinburgh Woollen Mill. I needed to wear a few layers today because it is absolutely freezing - silly snow!

Polaroid Disposable Camera

my chest of drawers (I thought it looked pretty)

If you watched my mini collective haul video then you will know that I bought a polaroid disposable camera. However I am quite disappointed with the results. 6 of the pictures could not be printed as they were under exposed and the majority of the ones that did print were really dark despite me using the flash all the time. I mainly wanted the camera to take pictures while I was at the christmas markets in Manchester and not a single one came out as they are all really dark.

If you want a disposable camera I think it's probably best to stick with the Kodak ones as they produce all round better results even though they are twice the price - it is well worth the extra money (and are often on 2 for 1 and you get 12 extra pictures).

Sometimes I feel that I don't know what I actually like so posts like this kind of sum it up for me. I don't know the sources of some of these pictures but if they're yours or you know whose pictures they are please let me know and I will be happy to credit them.
